USC Campus
Dr. Daniel Vinograd has established a long and prosperous career as the dentist San Diego prefers, because of his holistic, pain-free and biocompatible approach to dentistry. What you may not know is that he has a longstanding relationship with his alma mater, the University of Southern California.

Today, he’s a professor of dentistry for the university where he received his DDS degree.

USC is a private university founded in 1880 and based in Los Angeles. It’s the oldest private research institution of higher learning in California, trains a large number of international students and fully embraces its close proximity to Hollywood. It’s also consistently rated as one of the top colleges in the nation.

Here’s a bit of trivia that makes dentists like Dr. Vinograd proud: USC’s well-regarded fight song “Fight On” was composed by dental student Milo Sweet in 1922 — although Glen Grant has to be given partial credit for the lyrics.

Even if you’ve never been on the USC campus, you’ve probably seen it. That’s because its location means it features prominently on film and on television. You may have seen it in Forrest Gump, Ghostbusters, The Social Network or The Graduate. You may have also seen it on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, House MD, The Office or Monk, to name only a few of the many TV series that have filmed on the campus. Even Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy have shot there.

The University of Southern California’s close relationship with Hollywood and pop culture doesn’t mean it takes its professional programs less seriously. If you think about it, good teeth are an important part of any Hollywood career, and quite a number of the entertainment industry’s top names depend on USC dental school graduates for their award-winning smiles.

Will you be the next to turn to the San Diego dentist citizens of all types entrust with their precious teeth? Getting started is as easy as setting up an appointment.

Not really concerned what brand of toothpaste you buy? Not interested in making your own toothpaste when you can buy one at the store that works pretty well?

Perhaps the best reason of all for making toothpaste at home, or carefully choosing what brand you use, is avoiding SLS. But what is SLS and why is it so bad? Keep reading and you’ll understand.

Getting To Know SLS

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or SLS is found a lot of personal care products. But it doesn’t really belong there. In fact, putting it there doesn’t make much sense at all.

While it serves as a surfactant — a substance that breaks surface tension so a product can penetrate — it can cause skin irritation, the worsening of skin problems and other issues. Even worse, some people have an allergy to it, causing even more severe adverse reactions. And still worse yet, it can cause canker sores — those round white sores in your mouth that sting for days — and can cause dry mouth.

If you have a problem with skin issues, canker sores or dry mouth, you need to eliminate SLS from your toothpaste and from your other skin, mouth and healthcare products. Doing so could eliminate your problems or at least make them not as bad. In fact, research has proven a decrease in canker sores when using an SLS-free toothpaste.

If You Love Food…

Perhaps worst yet if you’re a foodie, SLS in toothpaste has been shown in one study to cause a temporary alteration in your ability to taste. Have you ever noticed that food tastes strange if you eat immediately after brushing your teeth? SLS could be the reason.

The reason this issue isn’t talked about more is that most people intentionally avoid eating after brushing their teeth to keep their teeth clean, so they may not necessarily notice this side effect.

Simply put, avoid SLS at all cost to avoid its side effects for a healthier and better life.

home barn doorJust because you don’t live on a farmhouse or ranch doesn’t mean you should exclude a sliding barn door from your home. Here are a few ways to help make these space savers do the trick in any room. You may forget to shut the door and find yourself posed with the question: “Where was the barn you grew up in?” Think nothing of it because sliding barn doors happen to be a very wise choice for an interior decorator. Your average door takes up about 9 square feet of space (a pair of French doors, will be even more so). These may not sound like overwhelming numbers but, when space is limited every inch is precious. A door that is installed on a sliding track will end up taking only a few inches of floor space. What would be the biggest drawback or disadvantage? Sliding barn doors sometimes are unable to offer as much protection as compared to standard doors, which shut snuggly.

Of course, sliding barn doors won’t be ideal for every small room. You still require the necessary wall space neighboring your doorway to slide the door over. A pocket door affords you similar space economy but demands a person to install a demolition. You do not have to be an amazing DIY-er to master installing a sliding barn door, but if you feel hesitant please, hire a professional who knows exactly how to make sure your door slides smoothly and safely.

Sliding barn doors are more than meets the eye when it comes to how they are used in interior design. Modern and trending heavily now, sliding barn doors that are perfect for doorways with larger openings and spaces are that way because a standard hinged door would fail to clear. The hardware for sliding barn doors are of various styles and can range from contemporary to sleek and high end. Rugged and rustic doors also offer a certain appeal to an office or living space. A buyer would do well to remind themselves that builders and designers only choose hardware that can carry the weight of the door, which is often made of high quality materials, which are customizable to the clients’ needs.

Master Bedroom Sliding DoorWhen you are buying a new type of closet door, or anything in general, then you should know everything about it before you spend a single dime on it. Let’s just assume that right now that you know nothing about custom sliding doors. There are four types that we will discuss: Closet Doors, Room Dividers, Pocket Doors, and Barn Doors

Wardrobe Doors
This is one of the most basic types of type of doors that you can get. It is a bit of a generic term but whenever a sliding door does not fall into the next three groups. That mean that there is a crazy amount of options that you can have with closet doors from frosted to mirrored to panels.

Apartment Dividers
Sliding room dividers are the perfect thing for the office to not only give everyone their space but to open up the room. There is nothing that will offer you the same blend of privacy and style that these doors can. The one thing you want to watch out for is room dividers that are made out of thin glass such as fiberglass since these can be easily broken.

Pouch Doors
The only thing that offers more in term of options is pocket doors which are perfect for anywhere! Pocket doors are the only type of sliding doors that can be completely customizable because of its size. You can select anything from glass to wood finish with everything that is in between. One drawback is the fact that it is popular

Outbuilding Doors
Have an opening you need closed and don’t have room for a traditional swing door or the budget to install a pocket door? If you said yes to this, then it sounds like you need barn door. It is quick to install and easy on the wallet. The options is a tad limited when you compare it to any of the doors above but it is not hard to find one in your desired finish. Barn doors have more customizable than any traditional doors.

Dr. Katz in LAHave you ever thought about what kind of dentist you want to be – and not in the ‘I want to be a princess when I grow up’ sort of way, more of a ‘how do I want people to feel when they leave my consultation room’ kind of way. Every dentist wants to work hard at making sure that their patients feel better physically, but what about the emotional ramifications that often go alongside the physical changes, for better or for worse? This is where being a different kind of dentist is something that we think dentists should strive for: a dentist who is not just preoccupied with wondering whether or not that infection can copy with a root canal, but whether a patient feels happy and confident in the way that their teeth and mouth looks.

This is something that Dr Howard Katz has focused on for much of his dental career, leading him to create a training course for dentists that could quickly change your approach to your patients’ cosmetic appearance. Dentox is a training programme that teaches dentists to administer Botox and other types of dermal fillers so that you can offer your patients so much more than the standard physical fix up. What about patients who are deeply insecure and unhappy about the way that their faces look, and do not have anyone else to turn to?

Being a dentist is to hold a position of trust, and when a patient who trusts you comes to you and asks for help in improving their emotional wellbeing and confidence, you want to be able to have the skills in order to do exactly that. Here in Los Angeles the Dentox training program is being offered to dentists in the area so that you can do just that, and be a different kind of dentist.

Botox Map - New York CourseFrom the very moment that you decided that you wanted to become a dentist, you have been wary of accepting any training that is not certified. After all, why would you want to waste your time, energy, brain, and money on something that will not actually enable you to use those skills later on in your career? It is something that every university, college, and training school is aware of when they advertise their dental training, and it is something that every dentist is keenly aware of. So when a dentist wants to be able to expand their skills and start to offer Botox and other dermal filler treatments to their patients, how can they go about ensuring that they can trust any training course?

First of all, you need to examine exactly who it is that is offering the training. What credentials do they have? Do they practice what they teach, and what are their patients saying about them? Secondly, you need to talk to other people who have already taken the course. Did they find the course beneficial and professional? Would they recommend that particular training course? Are they using the skills that they have learned at their dental practice? And lastly, does any organisation or body recognize the course?

Finding a good quality and certified Botox training course can be difficult, but for those who live in New York, the answer is coming really soon. Dr Howard Katz, a dentist who is also a Botox expert, has created a New York Botox course that meets all of the above requirements and called it Dentox. The one day program enables dentists to gain Botox skills in a certified environment that immediately enables them to go back to their dental practices, and offer these new treatments. Make sure that you gain your training from Dr Howard Katz, a man you can trust.

When it comes to holistic dentistry there are people who harbor different sentiments concerning the naming. The main reason for this is because not so many people have actually been able to understand its concept since inception. In as far as the holistic practice is concerned, this is supposed to be a procedure that pretty much applies to the entirety of your body. This is where the confusion actually comes in. The main reason for this is because of the fact that most people believe that your dentist’s work is supposed to be limited only to the mouth and the teeth, and not the rest of the body. Therefore when we start talking about a holistic dentist, things easily get confusing.

According to one of the best San Diego Dentists – “Other than the confusion on the use of the naming, the concept of holistic dentistry is something that will truly benefit you a great deal. In fact, a holistic dentist is someone who will not just treat the problem that you are having with your mouth, but he or she will treat you in general, as a person. They pretty much serve the same purpose that a holistic doctor would serve.”

What this means therefore is that when you schedule a visit to your holistic dentist, they will look at things like your diet plans, your exercise regime, the activities that you engage in from time to time and so forth. They even consider your sleep patterns, just to be sure to understand how to assist you, and not just assist you with the pain you are feeling on your teeth.

Before any kind of diagnosis is done, this dentist will make sure that they really do understand you well enough, and then from there they can recommend an appropriate treatment program for you. One of the main reasons why these dentists will often insist on such a diagnosis, is because of the fact that as long as you are not as healthy as possible in general, most of the treatment plans that would perhaps be recommended for you might not really work out.

We can therefore conclude that in most cases, the confusion will arise because of the fact that a lot of people simply regard dentists as people who deal with matters concerning the dental cavity, and nothing else. Therefore when you come across a dentist that caters perhaps to the pains that you might be experiencing in other parts of your body, this might be quite the problem for most people to grasp.

We however need to understand the link between the dental cavity and the rest of the body. All parts of the body are interconnected and interrelated with one another. This is something that you must understand, for you to appreciate the work of a holistic dentist. Things like gum disease will in fact carry bacteria that can easily compromise your health, trigger lots of other issues which could even make you sick. Therefore the role of this dentist will not only lie in treating your dental issues, but also to recommend appropriate treatment plans for you in general.
